Principle of the test
Test-it GIARDIA CAT+DOG is designed to detect the cystic antigens « 65kD » in cats’ or dogs’ faeces. After conducting the test:
- The antigens of G. lamblia (if present in the sample) migrate along the nitrocellulose membrane and bind to « Ig mouse anti-Giardia » + colloidal gold particles, located in the conjugate pad (CP) → complex formation. In turn, this complex migrates on the nitrocellulose and binds to other « Ig mouse anti-Giardia » present in the test line (T) → formation of a « direct sandwich » type complex. If antigens of G. lamblia are not present in the sample, nothing happens on the T line.
- On the control line (C), a complex is formed between « Ig mouse anti-Giardia » + colloidal gold particles present in CP and « Ig goat anti-mouse » present on this C line. This immunochromatographic reaction must occur, regardless of whether the sample contains cystic antigens or not.
